Course description: This course explores the new economic perspectives on China and the West, discusses the Meiji Restoration in Japan, the import of the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese wars, Korea and its experience with Western and Japanese colonialism, and Vietnam through the Versailles Treaty of 1919. Primary source reading selections and on-line units are the basis for assignments and discussion.

This course is open to Masters and Doctoral students across the College.
