Course description: The May 4th Movement in China, the rise of the Communist Party, nationalism and militarism in Japan, WW II, the atomic bomb, the Occupation of Japan, the division of Korea and Vietnam and the wars therein, and the status of East Asia at the beginning of the 21st century are the topics of this course. Primary source reading selections and on-line units are the basis for assignments and discussion.

This course is open to Masters and Doctoral students across the College.
