Generation Citizen – Call for Volunteers

| September 13, 2011

Generation Citizen is an education nonprofit aimed at empowering under-represented youth to become active participants in the democratic process.  We engage, educate, and empower youth by pairing college volunteers with classroom teachers to lead an “action civics” curriculum in which students learn about and then explore the political process by taking action on an issue that they care about in their communities.

We are currently looking for highly qualified volunteers eager to commit to their students for a one-hour class twice a week for the course of the fall semester.  Our Mentors gain valuable teaching experience, adapting and implementing curriculum alongside a veteran classroom teacher to lead students on the path to active civic involvement.  Volunteers also have access to Generation Citizen’s network of partner schools and nonprofits and the opportunity to work on additional projects with GC staff, advisers, and volunteers.

For more information and to apply to be a Mentor this fall, visit our website at www.generationcitizen.org.  Please email sandes@generationcitizen.org with questions, comments, or concerns.
